A popular North West taproom is bubbling with visitors more than a year since laying the best possible foundations for its premises through brewery flooring specialists Kemtile.
The Runaway Brewery on Astley Street has proven a popular addition to Stockport town centre since its opening in 2022 – with founder Mark Welsby acquiring the premises and bringing Kemtile to complete the flooring.
Mark wanted a tiled floor that fitted the criteria of a demanding brewing environment but also looked the part for visitors sampling the fine beers in Runaway’s new taproom.
He chose Kemtile based on their excellent reputation for success in the food and drink/brewery industry and got the solution he needed – within his budget – in just two weeks.
Kemtile supplied and installed a Stonhex Ceramic Floor Tiling System that Mark liked, as well as brewery specific drainage which was connected to an existing manhole via underground drainage. The team built a new bund wall and installed the tiles to “falls” towards the drainage so all spillages were contained.
In addition, Kemtile’s civils team also installed, and power floated a concrete floor in the area next to the bund that now functions as a delivery area for The Runaway Brewery.
Owner Mark Welsby said: “I knew which tiling I wanted for the new premises – and I knew we had to get it right.
“I wanted the best – so, I chose Kemtile.
“I had heard of the great work these guys had done and I knew they could deliver a floor that would withstand the high demands of a brewery but also give a wow factor to our clientele.
“Today, we have a facility and taproom which we’re really proud of.”
Kemtile’s project lead George Morton started: “It’s great to see how our first class flooring has proven such a massive part of a very good looking facility at Runaway Brewery.
“When we met Mark, he had recently taken possession of a new premises and wanted the flooring done right the first time: Flooring that would withstand the rigours of his brew house and last him for years to come.
“We carefully selected the right Argelith tiles from stock in order to meet Mark’s programme and budget constraints and the results were exactly what he was looking for.”
