A leading UK dairy product producer has worked with Kemtile to replace the flooring within a critical butter production area with a very tight turnaround required.

The work had to be completed within a five-day production shutdown, allowing the facility to return to full operation on schedule while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and durability.

On inspection, food factory flooring specialists at Kemtile knew that the existing floor had reached the end of its service life within a demanding food manufacturing environment.

Demands typically include constant heavy pedestrian and pallet truck traffic, frequent cleaning and washdown regimes and exposure to dairy fats and cleaning chemicals.

Floors also must meet strict hygiene requirements in this sector and there are usually minimal opportunities for production downtime.

With only a five-day shutdown available, every stage of the project had to be meticulously planned.

Project lead Mark Appleton commented: “The project formed part of a larger refurbishment programme delivered over five separate phases across 12 months, requiring consistent quality and reliable delivery throughout.”

Extensive preparation was carried out before the shutdown started, ensuring materials, labour, logistics and sequencing were fully planned.

Kemtile installed a Kemcrete SR flooring system, selected for its durability and suitability for demanding food manufacturing environments.

The experienced installation team completed the works safely and efficiently within the restricted shutdown period, allowing production to resume as planned.

Mark Appleton again: “We enjoy an established relationship with this customer built on trust, technical expertise and consistently delivering quality projects under challenging conditions.”
