Stonhard has provided a French perfume production company with a high-performance floor to meet the rigours of a demanding production environment with a focus on durability, safety and hygiene.

The successful perfume business recently expanded its operations by constructing a new facility to replace its cramped existing plant.

As part of the expansion plan a flooring system was required that would withstand daily forklift and pallet truck traffic, regular chemical exposure and intensive cleaning routines.

The existing floor in the old plant was made of worn resin and concrete, so the client wanted a solution that would be long-lasting, non-slip and easy to maintain facility in a colourway of its choice.

The project scope covered 1,100 m² of flooring across corridors and all production rooms. As the new building had brand new concrete, surface preparation involved shot-blasting the entire area to ensure complete system adhesion.

The Stonhard team installed its robust epoxy mortar system, Stonclad GS, to meet the technical requirements. This system offers exceptional strength and durability for heavy mechanical loads.

Stonkote HT4 Slate was applied, incorporating a texture 2 finish to improve safety and cleanability. This provided a lightly textured, slip-resistant surface ideal for frequent washdowns.

In addition to meeting performance needs, the Stonclad GS system allowed for localised correction of level irregularities, making it ideal for the slight unevenness in some concrete regions, providing both a functional and aesthetically-pleasing outcome.
