The customer, a long-standing client of Stonhard, had their original Stonclad UR floor installed 10 years ago and initially requested spot repairs due to its excellent continued performance.
However, a thorough assessment revealed that a complete refurbishment would be more efficient and future-proof against ongoing heavy-duty wear and tear.
With the floor still structurally sound, it was the ideal time to replace only the top layer and fully restore durability and functionality across the 540 m² area.
The Stonhard team delivered a customised flooring solution built around durability, chemical resistance, and safety to meet the facility’s rigorous demands.
The original floor was refurbished using Stonclad UR, a high-performance mortar system ideal for withstanding thermal shock and mechanical stress.
Stonseal GS6, an abrasion-resistant polyurethane topcoat, was applied across all areas over a broadcast-textured surface to enhance wearing properties and provide slip resistance.
In the most critical zones, exposed to extreme chemical and thermal loads, Stonchem 858 was installed instead. This high-performance vinyl ester system provides reinforced protection and excellent chemical resistance, extending the floor’s service life for many years.
The installation was carried out by Stonhard’s installers under strict quality, health and safety protocols and completed to the customer’s satisfaction.
