This month we get a rare chat with Wojciech Weinert from Stonhard who works with Kemtile’s senior management team in the UK. Wojciech has a unique perspective on industrial flooring across Europe and has led entrepreneurial Kemtile from acquisition in 2018 to the Group powerhouse it is today, delivering consistently strong performance. Here he talks about shared values, where he gets his inspiration and a passion for ultra-distance running.
What are you responsible for as General Manager?
Managing and driving business growth, leading teams, and executing strategy in the UK, Ireland, and CEE. Today, my priority is performance – building strong leaders, providing clear direction, and delivering measurable results in a demanding environment.
Can you share a bit about your background and experience in the flooring industry?
I have over 18 years of experience in the flooring business. I started as a Territory Manager at Stonhard in the south of Poland, where I was responsible for delivering turnkey flooring projects in demanding environments. From that foundation, I developed my career as a manager – first leading the Polish team, then expanding to CEE, and ultimately supporting the UK and Irish teams. Throughout my career, I have remained strongly focused on understanding and addressing customer flooring needs, which is essential for building a successful business.
Can you highlight a standout project or accomplishment while working with the team at Kemtile?
I am particularly proud of how the Kemtile team, with my support, managed the Costco project. We turned a very serious customer complaint and major issues into a success by finding the right solution, rebuilding trust, and ultimately retaining a highly satisfied long-term customer.
How would you describe the culture within Kemtile and the wider Stonhard group?
Strong teamwork, customer focus, and flexibility in delivery are the key values of Kemtile. These values have also always been important to me and to my teams in Poland and Ireland. Based on these principles, we have built a successful story over the past few years, achieving some of the strongest performance in Europe.
What differences and/or similarities do you see between the needs of UK and European flooring customers?
As mentioned, understanding and addressing customer needs is crucial. Every customer is different, and every situation is unique. However, the need to find an individual approach to achieve customer satisfaction is consistent across all markets.
What is the best career advice you have ever received?
“Hire the best people you can find. Create an atmosphere that will keep them. Then, let them do their jobs.” – Frank C. Sullivan, RPM founder, 1947
Who are your key role models/inspirations?
Inspiration is everywhere – you just need to keep your eyes and ears open. It can come from people around you, books, or podcasts. Real, honest stories are always the most valuable.
Getting to know you… What is your favourite:
Movie: The Lord of the Rings – The Two Towers
Song: “Smile” – Pearl Jam
In my spare time, I enjoy… running – especially ultra-distance running
My last holiday was to… New Zealand
A little-known fact about me is… I have a sweet tooth – no limits here 😊
Is there anything else to add?
Being responsible for the transition of Kemtile from an entrepreneurial company to part of the STONHARD group was a significant career challenge for me. Fortunately, working with such a positive, professional, and motivated team made this process much easier than expected. Our success is something I am truly proud of. I look forward to continuing this journey and delivering the best possible solutions to our customers.
