In our latest “Five Minutes With” series, it’s time to shine the spotlight on our Site Supervisor, Ste Breary.  Having worked in the resin flooring industry for over 36 years, this guy knows a thing or two about flooring! Here he gives us insight into his accomplishments to date and the importance of resource planning and teamwork.

What is your role at Kemtile?

As Site Supervisor I oversee everyone working on a Kemtile project site, which includes members of our own team and any Kemtile subcontractors. One of my main roles is to make sure everyone has the necessary resources to complete their tasks and perform their duties effectively, in compliance with our own company policy and UK health and safety regulations.

Can you share a bit about your background and experience in the flooring industry?

I have worked in the resin flooring industry for 36 years. I started as a site operative working for my dad and brothers in a small family-run installation team. Over the years I have developed my skills and worked for several flooring companies, as both sub-contractor and directly employed as an industrial resin floor installer and team leader within the resin flooring industry.

Can you highlight a favourite project or accomplishment you've been involved in while working at Kemtile?

I have worked directly for Kemtile for around 12 years and during that time I have carried out many more projects than I can remember. However, I do like working and refurbishing the fire stations, especially in Scotland, because they are often in quite stunning and remote locations, and each one has its own challenges. One of the most important is making sure we  work with the client to ensure the fire station can remain operational.

What is the best career advice you have ever received?

“Your customer doesn’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”

I always try to work well with the client and build a good rapport as it’s not only Kemtile’s reputation at stake but your own as well.

What is your favourite thing about working at Kemtile?

The support they offer even when life throws you a curve ball is exceptional.

How would you describe the culture within the Kemtile team?

It’s all about teamwork. The spirit on site is always good natured, even when others don’t agree with me.

Who are your key role models/inspirations?

I have to say my dad. He is the one who introduced me to the industry and always taught me to do what I believe is right and listen and learn from those more experienced around me to continue to improve.
