  • Can you highlight a favourite project or accomplishment you’ve been involved in while working at Kemtile?

Our work at Johnson Matthey, Royston, Cambridge was a complex 12-month project during which I compiled the specification/design with a cleanroom contractor – including the program input from our CMG team.

We conducted independent material testing and assessed the existing coatings to guarantee the safety of all individuals working in the area to eliminate any chances of harm to all working in the area as it was a live facility. These evaluations were carried out following discussions with the cleanroom contractor, the main contractor and the client. After careful consideration, it was determined that Stonclad GS was the most suitable system for this facility, due to the speed at which we could install the Stonclad GS system which was a big benefit to all involved as it reduced the programme. The solution was also selected due to its impressive technical properties which were ideal for this type of environment.

In a highly sensitive environment, we installed the Stonclad GS power-trowelled system in different phases including an ESD variant for the critical areas. The Kemtile team also took charge of ventilation, dust and noise monitoring, effectively managing and adhering to these responsibilities whilst on site which was done working closely with our in-house HSEQ Manager.
